Computing

A firm grounding in all aspects of ICT and Computer Science is of fundamental importance in our modern digitally connected world. The Key Stage 3 curriculum is aimed at providing all students with the skills and knowledge they will need in order to communicate effectively and understand the world around them.
The areas covered are as follows:

KS3 pupils are taught in rotation with the technology department.  They have three lessons per week.  The pupils will develop skills in the following areas:

  • Digital Literacy
  • Computing
  • IT skills

The pupils learn how to produce videos; use graphic software to create animations; produce games using Scratch and develop skills in using spreadsheets and powerpoints.

KS4 pupils build on the sills taught in KS3 and use them to enhance their work across the curriculum.  They have one lesson per week.  We do not currently offer GCSE computing as an option.
