Transition of Pupils Back to School

Dear parent/carer,

We hope you are all keeping safe and well.

You will be very much aware that there is a lot of ongoing discussion as to when schools will actually re-open to pupils.  With that in mind I thought it would be helpful and reassuring for you to know how we intend to make this happen.

It is our intention to phase pupils back into school, but only when we know for certain that it is safe for this to happen.  The planned date to start this phased transition is for Year 6 pupils on Monday 8th June 2020. We will be confirming this nearer the planned date. Following that we will then plan for the return of Nursery, Reception and Year 1.  This may be a phased return by year group or as a whole.  We will decide this, when we fully understand how well the Year 6's transitioned back into school.

With regard to the face to face contact for pupils in Year 10, we will be in  touch as to how that will work, once the Year 6's have settled back into school.

Please also be aware that there is a planned government announcement on Thursday 28th May 2020, where there is an expectation that the outcomes of the 5 government tests to ease the lockdown will be shared.  It is very possible that what is shared at this briefing could change timelines for lockdown ease even further.

The two links below are some further guidance from the government to support families with home learning.  We hope you find these useful.

Please note that we will be closed on Spring Bank Holiday, Monday 25th May and we will open on Tuesday 26th May to continue the care of the vulnerable pupils and children of key workers.

If we can support you with any questions that you may have about this or with anything else, then please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Best wishes,
Ruth Ward
