Almondbury Community School - Land Rover challenge!

On Tuesday 30th January 9 students headed to the Halewood Land Rover plant to take part in the North West Regional Final of the Land Rover 4x4 schools challenge.

Having only had the kits for 3 weeks the two teams had designed and built bodies to go on theirvehicles. The teams were quizzed throughout the day by engineers from Jaguar Land Rover on their work and ideas they had used to build their vehicles as well as driving over the obstacle course. They competed against schools from all over the north west of England including a team that had previously been to the world championships in Adu Dhabi!

Both teams from Almondbury did exceptionally well, speaking with confidence about their work and driving the radio controlled cars around the course. They had a great day out coming back full of enthusiasm for developing their cars next year!

To round the event off they were presented with the Rising Stars trophy.

Well done to Team ‘Stampede’ Robyn, Olivia, Megan and Phom and Team ‘We Need Another Name’ Myles, Ben, Jinwen, Honiya and Sana.

As a follow up to the Land Rover 4x4 challenge Almondbury Community School are hoping to host the Regional Finals  for the  Jaguar Primary Challenge in March so Year 5’s you better get your cars ready !
