Twenty two members of the local community were treated to a traditional Christmas dinner and were joined by a number of students. The guests were greeted at the door, shown to their tables and served by Year 11 pupils. They chatted and shared stories while enjoying roast turkey and all the trimmings cooked by Mrs Bentley in the school kitchen. After lunch the diners were entertained by children from reception to Year 11. The younger children sang excerpts from their Nativity play, pupils from Year 5 & 6 played ukuleles and the newly formed Community Choir (consisting of children, parents and grandparents across all age groups) performed a number of popular Christmas songs and carols. As the event drew to a close all the guests were given a present from under the Christmas tree and wished a very Merry Christmas. “It was a marvellous event,” said one lady, “I hope you invite me again next year.” It was also delightful to hear the praise for Year 11 students as they all embraced their tasks showing they are becoming role models and ambassadors for this community.
