Armistice Day 2015
Pupils at Almondbury Community School remember on Armistice Day.
Year 6 pupils led a special assembly on Armistice Day. The children had been learning about World War I and this was there opportunity to share their work with parents, grandparents and members of the community. A number of visitors agreed it was a very moving experience with one commenting, "Excellent portrayal of the meaning of the poppy day. Performed to a fantastic standard by youngsters who must have excelled in their understanding to perform so well. Well done to all." Another added, "What a lovely Remembrance Day Service. The children did really well and it’s good to know that they are taught about it and what our ancestors went through. The singing and whistling was excellent and brought a lump to my throat. WELL DONE!!!" The assembly culminated with Mrs Wood, playing 'The Last Post' at 11 o'clock followed by two minutes silence.
In addition pupils and staff from Almondbury Community School attended the act of Remembrance at the war memorial in the centre of Almondbury village.
