Great Fire of London - Key Stage 1
There was much excitement at the Greenside Centre this week. As a dramatic climax to the topic, 'The Great Fire of London' it was arranged to re-enact the fire on the school playing fields with the attendance and cooperation of the West Yorkshire Fire Brigade. The children arranged the buildings they had made on the school playing field to represent London in 1666. With the help of the Fire Officer, London was set alight. Children were placed well back, safely behind the perimeter fence and watched the as the dramatic scene unfolded. Another Fire Officer was in attendance with hose pipe at the ready and in no time at all the flames were well and truly doused with water. The children thanked the Fire Brigade for making their learning come to life.
