Year 3 Ancient Greece Day

There was a fun packed day for Year 3 children, as they travelled back in time to look at Greece in the distant past. To enhance the experience, the children came to school dressed up as the Ancient Greeks wearing chitons (a form of clothing ). Casey said, “I liked dressing up. I had a white sheet with a belt that had golden patterns on it.” Children found that life and the materials on offer had a very different feel to them. Adam enthused about using clay to make replica Greek vases after they’d looked at different shapes and designs. Other practical skills used during the day included co-ordination and team work needed for Greek dancing. Donti explained that they had also used the Greek alphabet to write their names and decipher phrases. Lily added, “We got to taste different foods from Greece such as pitta bread, hummus, taramasalata, Greek yogurt and olives.” Children, in Daley class, all agreed that they had enjoyed a very memorable day.
