Stone Soup

A group of children from Early Years donned their wellies and coats to visit Greenside allotments. They have been reading and exploring the story ‘Stone Soup’ and with the help of allotment holders ,Chris and Kevin, the children have really been able to bring the story to life!  Chris and Kevin took the children around their allotments and helped them pick some vegetables so they could make their very own ‘Stone Soup’. Mrs Beer, reception teacher, said,  “The vegetables were fantastic and the children enjoyed carrying the vegetables back to school. We then used the vegetables for writing a shopping list and drawing them. We
then washed and chopped the vegetables and made a very delicious 'Stone Soup'. We invited Chris to come and try our soup and he said it was wonderful soup. The children have really enjoyed this topic and we are now planning to go back to the allotments in 2016.”
